Prawn and shrimp production utilizing recently-developed brackishwater fishpond culture techniques performs better in terms of profitabilities per unit area compared with rice and corn production. This was one of the more important findings of a study team of the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center Aquaculture Department (Seafdec-AQD) which conducted an in-depth study recently of the economics of the different prawn and shrimps brackishwater pond culture systems.
