A reduction in tariffs and duties on prawn farm inputs coupled with a phase out of subsidies given by the Board of Investments (BOI) to prawn exporters will improve the competitiveness of Philippine prawns in the world market, according to a study of the Agriculture department. The study, made by the Research and Training Program for Agricultural Policy, said a reduction in tariffs would decrease the prices of prawn feeds and tends to encourage the use of the products.
