Fisheries production in Guimaras continuously dropped in two consecutive years – 2020-2021 – from its 2019 production of 8,355.30 metric tons (MT) to a low of 7,844.53MT in 2021, based on the data released by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA). “Fish production in 2021 at 7,844.53 metric tons went down by 1.21 percent from the 7,940.37 metric tons output a year ago due to the decreased municipal and aquaculture fishery sub-sector,” Provincial Statistics Officer Nelida B. Losare said. Losare added that municipal and aquaculture fishing comprised the province’s fishery sector, with no commercial fishing.en
