Now, with the establishment of the SEAFDEC in Iloilo there is already a bridge that connects the gap. And the SEAFDEC fulfills this role not only for the fishing industry of Iloilo, or the Philippines but for all of Asia, and it can be said, for that of the world. SEAFDEC, or Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center, was established on the basis of the proposal submitted by the Philippine Government and approved at the Fourth Meeting of the SEAFDEC Council held in Manila on January 18-22, 1971.
