The Department of Science and Technology (DoST) in Western Visayas is set to launch a marine transport research network program that will push the production of hybrid vessels to address the government’s modernization plans in domestic shipping, phasing out all wooden-hulled motorboats servicing local passengers there. This is in collaboration with officials of the University of the Philippines in the Visayas (UPV), University of Antique (UA), ASU, Guimaras State College (GSC), Northern Iloilo Polytechnic State College (NIPSC) and Iloilo State College of Fisheries (ISCOF) to finalize the network and to be able to come up with a long-term research program.
