DENR's next mission: Cleaning PH oceans
Excerpt
After the closure of all 335 open dumpsites nationwide, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) is now shifting its focus to cleaning the country’s oceans. Undersecretary for Solid Waste Management and Local Government Units Concerns Benny D. Antiporda on Saturday, June 26, urged Filipinos to take part in clean-up drives initiated for the country’s oceans to protect marine resources from the growing problem of marine pollution. “If every person throws a piece of candy wrapper in the ocean, after just a few months, we would lose our oceans. This is the simplest form of explanation to this growing problem,” he said.
