The Iloilo provincial government is setting up a fish hatchery in Cabatuan town, 20 kilometers north of this city, to promote the "appropriate technology" in "rice-fish culture". The Lowland Technology Development and Multiplier Center to be set up by the provincial agriculture office and the Iloilo Technology Development Center (TLDC) will produce tilapia and pantat (native catfish) fingerlings, one million yearly, either for sale at subsidized rates or given free, said Larry Locara.
