Senator Loren Legarda yesterday sought an in-depth investigation on the oil spill in Calatagan, Batangas. Legarda filed the resolution after an oil spill in Barangay Talibayog, Calatagan, Batangas was discovered by Rodrigo De Jesus, chairman of Bantay Dagat, Calatagan las July 4. The next day, upon receiving the report, the Philippine Coast Guard dispatched vessels, machinery, and an aircraft to conduct oil sampling, conduct the clean up and determine the sourceof the spill.
