A fish hatchery will be set up by the provincial government in Cabatuan town, 20 kilometers north of Iloilo City to promote the "appropriate technology" in "rice fish culture." The Lowland Technology Development and Multiple Center to be set up by the provincial agriculture office and the Iloilo Technology Development Center (ITDC) will produce tilapia and pantat (native catfish) fingerlings one million yearly, either for sale at subsidized rates or given free said Larry Locara, chief of the Research and Evaluation Division Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO).
