Former President Fidel V. Ramos and Supreme Court (SC) Senior Associate Justice Antonio Carpio have been tapped by the Lower Chamber’s special panel on the West Philippine Sea as among its top advisers to address the Philippines’ territorial spat with China. Former Speaker Feliciano "Sonny" Belmonte Jr., who now chairs the House special panel, said Ramos and Carpio are the best persons to be tapped given their expertise in "navigating" through the issue. "The two (ex-President Ramos and Carpio) are experts and knowledgeable on the topic. Ex-President Ramos even led a series of annual conferences on various issues held in a city in China and he has a good relationship with China," he said.en
