local.descriptionThe Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) 6– Iloilo Provincial Fisheries Office recently led efforts in mangrove resource rehabilitation and livelihood provisions in the municipalities of Ajuy and Batad, all in northern Iloilo. Together with the local government unit of Ajuy and Iloilo State College of Fisheries - Tiwi Campus, BFAR Iloilo Provincial Fisheries Office implemented the rehabilitation of the mangrove area of Brgy. Silagon, Ajuy, Iloilo through a mangrove planting activity. Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas Assistant Secretary Jonji Gonzales said some 22,500 pieces of "bungalon” were planted at the 3-hectare mangrove area during the planting activity which was also participated in by members of the Silagon Fisherfolk Association who will benefit from the project.en
