The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), local government units, the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), and the academe are joining hands in the marine protection program for the island province of Guimaras. DENR Regional Director Jim Sampulna said a recent agreement for the Guimaras Alliance of Protected Areas and Sanctuaries (GAPAS) aims to reduce degradation of coastal and marine ecosystems in Jordan, Buenavista, Nueva Valencia, San Lorenzo, and Sibunag towns.
