To protect villages from the onslaught of any weather disturbance while mitigating global warming and climate change, the government remains on-track to hit its target to plant 5,706,452 mangrove propagules by yearend. Under the Mangrove and Beach Forest Development Project (MBFDP) of Department and Natural Resources (DENR-13), 4,450 mangrove propagules planting along the shorelines of Surigao del Norte (2,400 hectares), Surigao del Sur (1,400) and the rest in Agusan del Norte and the Province of Dinagat Islands (PDI).
