Manang Leonor Daquila-Gelito was misty-eyed when "Uriel" was taken out of his one and a half square meter pond in Brgy. Manoc-Manoc, Boracay Island, Malay, Aklan. Uriel, a nine year old endangered hawksbill turtle, was to be transported to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR-6) Regional Office in the wee hours of March 10, 2005 to be given a new home. Manang Leonor has reasons to feel sad. This might be her last glimpse of her beloved pet she considered a "reincarnation" of her eldest son, Uriel, from whom she named the turtle.
