President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo declared that the oil spill here had been contained, and assured residents yesterday that there will be no whitewash in the investigation. "It will take more than an oil slick to sink this island," she said as she told Guimarasnons that "the effective handling of the M/T Soralr 1 oil spill shall be sustained." Arroyo had a lucheon meeting with members of the National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDCC) in Brgy. Alubihod, Nueva Valencia yesterday.
