The 2018 Regional Research Utilization Forum, initiated by the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA)-6, focused on studies concerning the agriculture and fisheries sectors in Western Visayas. According to NEDA-6 regional director Ro-Ann Bacal, the annual forum aimed to be a venue to generate public interest and make use of the studies that were presented. “This year’s forum focuses on agriculture-related researches, which stems from our cognizance of the pivotal role of the agriculture and fisheries sectors, especially in generating employment as well as forward and backward linkages referred to as the value chain,” she said. Among the commodities that were presented were native chicken, muscovado sugar, aquaculture, and high-value vegetables.en
