Easy credit access for farmers, fisherfolks
Excerpt
Farmers, animal raisers, and fisherfolk of Tigbauan, Iloilo will no longer run to private lenders and pay high interest rate to finance their farms. With the Production Loan Easy Access (PLEA) credit program of the Department of Agriculture (DA), a farmer could loan up to P50,000 at 6 percent interest rate per annum while maturity will depend on the agricultural commodity. Two hundred farmers and fisherfolk from five qualified farmers associations in Tigbauan can access the P5-million credit assistance through the Kooperatiba Naton Multi-Purpose Cooperative (KNMPC) as the lending conduit.
