Amid the coronavirus pandemic, fisherfolks from Iloilo City received 10 fiberglass reinforced plastic boats from the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) 6 and Department of Agriculture-Office of Assistant Secretary for Visayas under the government’s National Fisheries Program. BFAR 6 Planning Officer Joel Abalayan said the beneficiaries came from five coastal villages of the city namely, Sto. Nino Norte, Sto. Nino Sur, Calaparan, Calumpang and San Juan.
