The Philippine Government through the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) has allotted P10M for the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center/Aquaculture Department (SEAFDEC/AQD) to conduct feasibility studies in view of establishing 15 multi-species hatcheries nationwide. Another P.5M will be for the establishment of mangrove crab seedbanks, nurseries and grow-out farms with training components in the Province of Catanduanes. The multi-million project hopes to address the country's need for seedstocks and address the dwindling fish prodution.
