    Excerpt
The Maranaos of Lanao del Sur are opposed to any expansion of the shores of the Lake Lanao in Marawi City as a reclamation area where tons of war debris as filling materials would be dumped. Limnologists or experts on the study of lakes from the Mindanao State University (MSU) have warned of the reclamation's devastating effects on the lake's ecology and capability to accumulate flood waters from the surrounding hinterlands in Lanao del Sur. Eduardo del Rosario, chairman of Task Force Bangon Marawi, recently announced that about eight million metric tons of concrete debris from conflict-torn areas in Marawi will be utlized for land reclamation.
