A Chinese research vessel was seen inside the exclusive economic zone of the Philippines, a maritime expert bared. In a tweet, Ryan Martinson, professor at the US Naval War College, said on September 17, Jiageng was 50 nautical miles off the West Philippine Sea where it had stayed for the last week. Another Chinese research vessel, the Xiang Yang Hong 14, was spotted near the Recto Bank in August.
