    Excerpt
Central Visayas’ diving spots in Moalboal, Cebu and Bohol and Busuanga in Palawan have captured the interest of the global diving community as the Philippines bagged the Best Overseas Diving during the Marine Diving Awards 2020 held recently in Tokyo, Japan. According to Department of Tourism (DOT) 7 Director Shahlimar Tamano, the citation is strong proof of the tourism stakeholders’ goal to make the experience worthwhile for tourists while highlighting the industry’s efforts on sustainable practices. “They are really announcing to the world that we are an environmental and sustainable leader. Being a dive destination means that you have protected your environment and you are practicing sustainable tourism,” Tamano said during a Philippine Information Agency 7 online forum on Wednesday, Sept. 9.
