Several locations in our country have been named natural parks and ecotourism sites to promote the conservation of the natural environment, economic prosperity for the majority of stakeholders and community development. One of these sites is located here in the Negros Island and is known as the Balinsasayao Twin Lakes Natural Park. In the benchmarking and ecological trip undertaken by the La Consolacion CollegeBacolod faculty and staff together with some graduate school students, the Balinsasayao Twin lakes was one of the sites visited. From available information from the net, it is a protected area spanning 8,016 hectares (19,810 acres) created on Nov. 21, 2000 by virtue of Proclamation No. 414 signed by former President Joseph Estrada. It lies within the municipalities of Valencia, Sibulan, and San Jose in the province of Negros Oriental. According to the DENR personnel the lake also had fish but were introduced species only and includes tilapia, common carp, mudfish, shrimp, mosquito fish and milkfish.
