    Hindi makikilahok Pilipinas sa mga maritime drills kasama ang anumang bansa sa South China Sea (SCS) maliban kung ito ay gagawi sa loob ng 12-nautical miles exclusive economic zone (EEZ), idineklara ni Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana. Sinabi ni Lorenzana na si Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte ang nagbigay ng mga utos upang maiwasan ang pagtaas ng tensyon sa mga pinagtatalunang bahagi ng tubig. “The President has a standing order to us, to me that we should not involve ourselves in the naval exercises in the South China Sea except in our national waters.. the 12 mile distance from our shores,” aniya sa isang virtual briefing.
