Planting mangroves in Brgy. Talisay, Barotac Nuevo town was the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) way of celebrating the international day of forests. Some 150 mangrove propagules were planted Friday last week, said community Environment and Natural resources officer (CENRO) Cynthia Blancia. Blancia said they chose pure bakhawan species of mangrove for they have prop root system which can hold in loose and wet soils.
