DA points to Russia as "exciting" market for shrimp products
Excerpt
Russia is an “exciting” market for shrimp products, according to the Department of Agriculture.
Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol made the statement during the Opening of the National Shrimp Congress held at the SMX, Bacolod City recently.
Piñol said he had talks with the Russian counterparts in a bilateral meeting during his visit to Viet Nam.
“We just have to get our acts together and work closely to bring the shrimp industry to Russia,” Piñol said.
“There is a need to collaborate closely with feed millers and other stakeholders,” Piñol further said, adding that he is waiting for Congress to come up with a roadmap for the shrimp Industry, with financing, technology and marketing to strengthen the fishery and aquatic industry.
A press release from the SEAFDEC Aquaculture Department said that their scientists participated in the National Shrimp Congress to share their expertise in shrimp aquaculture.
The same press release said that SEAFDEC/AQD Chief Dan Baliao led the launching and presentation of the program “Oplan Balik Sugpo” during the congress, while the milestones in Shrimp research were presented by Dr. Leobert de la Peña.
