local.seafdecaqd.extractThe Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) Region 6 is stepping up its information and education campaign on Republic Act (RA) 10654, a new law which amended the Philippine Fisheries Code. RA 10654, an act to prevent deter and eliminate illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing (IUUF), amended RA 8550, otherwise known as the Philippine Fisheries Code of 1998. It became a law in February this year. According to Director Remia Aparri of BFRA-6, the campaign is part of an action plan which includes activities such as distribution of materials and the conduct of fora to orient stakeholders, especially in the fishery sector, on the salient features and provisions of the amended Fisheries Code.en
