The Metro Iloilo Airshed Governing Board (MIAGB) adopted a one-hectare mangrove area in Bigke, Leganes, Iloilo and made the commitment by signing a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office and the local government unit of Leganes on Nov. 13 through a mangrove planting on the site. Some 1,000 seedlings of bungalon (Avicennia marina) were planted in the one-hectare adopted area by volunteers coming from the DENR Region 6, Department of Public Works and Highways, Bureau of Fire Protection, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, City ENRO, PENRO-Iloilo, Petron Corp., Apex Club of Leganes, San Miguel Operators and Drivers Association, and the local government units of Oton, Pavia and Leganes.
