Shellfishes in Sapian Bay are once again positive of paralytic shellfish poison. In its Shellfish Advisory No. 19 dated Nov. 13, 2015, the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources(BFAR) said the red tide toxin level in shellfish there is beyond the regulatory limit set by the agency. Per latest laboratory test conducted by the BFAR and the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist in Capiz, the paralytic shellfish poison reached 70 to 1,271 µgSTXeq (microgram saxitoxin equivalent) per 100 grams of shellfish meat.
