An official of the provincial government of Maguindanao and his companions were rescued after their boat was battered by strong winds and waves in the waters off Tawi-Tawi on Saturday. Mashur Biruar, a member of the provincial board, and his companions were on their way to deliver relief goods and food supplies on Bongao Island. The island is about four miles off the coast of Parang, Maguindanao.
