Baguio’s water quality ‘improves’ under ECQ
Excerpt
It is not just the air but also the Summer Capital’s water quality that benefited from the eight-week restrained human activity during enhanced community quarantine (ECQ). The city is currently under general community quarantine. Rhenan Diwas, officer in charge of the City Environment and Parks Management Office (Cepmo), said since the start of the ECQ, a marked improvement has been observed in the wastewater influent (raw) and effluent of the 34-year-old Baguio Sewage Treatment Plant (BSTP). He added that the influent and effluent not only significantly decreased but also became compliant with the water quality standards of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).
