The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) on Tuesday released a 12-kilogram Olive Ridley turtle, that kept returning to a village in Pangasinan, into the Lingayen Gulf. The turtle ( Lepidochelys olivacea), whose carapace measured 48-centimeter long and 50-cm wide, was caught by fishermen on the shore of Rabon village in San Fabian on Dec. 10. Fishermen turned over the turtle to the BFAR center here. Westly Rosario, BFAR center chief, said the turtle has a metal rectangular tag in its right front limb. Etched on the tag were: “Do not remove report to PCP-DENR Quezon City, Philippines” and “P10160.” PCP stands for Pawikan Conservation Project.en
