BFAR pushes for organic tilapia
Excerpt
The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR)-Region 2 (Cagayan Valley) is encouraging fish farmers in the region to raise tilapia without using artificial or chemical inputs. Rhodamel Soriano, BFAR-Region 2 project leader on organic aquaculture, said it is still possible to raise organic tilapia through aquaculture. “By strictly following the natural methods, the use of veterinary drugs, synthetic or growth promoters, synthetic food additives, noxious substances, inorganic fertilizers and pesticides is not allowed,” he said.
