SEAFDEC/AQD advice: Growers told to avoid stocking shrimps during cold months
Excerpt
Shrimp pond culture experts at the SEAFDEC Aquaculture Department said growers should not stock shrimps during cold months, especially from November to February. A study done at SEAFDEC/AQD showed that drop of temperature weakens the immune response of shrimps making them prone to infection.
Evidence of this is shown in the pattern of the outbreak of white spot syndrome virus in tiger shrimp when pond temperature is low.
