An independent power producer here will establish a mangrove farm and mini-forest around its 164-megawatt (MW) coal-fired power plant to promote not just environmental protection but tourism as well. The move to create a mangrove farm and mini-forest is one of the major corporate social responsibility programs of Panay Energy Development Corp., company dorector Felipe A. Uygongco said. Panay Energy is a subsidiary or Metrobank Group's energy arm Global Business Power Corp. Panay Energy is constructing a coal-fired power plant beside its existing diesel-fired power plant at Brgy. Ingore, LaPaz, Iloilo City.
