    Excerpt
Illegal fishing in northern Iloilo and Negros Occidental remain rampant despite the aggressive campaign of the Bantay Dagat created by the local government units (LGUs), revealed by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) in Western Visayas. In northern Iloilo, PCG-6 Commodore William Melad said most illegal fishers/operate in Carles and Estancia towns. "Illegal fishers commonly fish within 50 meters of the municipals' waters while some are using active gears," Melad said.
