    "Harmful algal blooms occur during heat spells," said Malcolm Sarmiento, director of the Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Bureau. "We are closely monitoring our seas, and we keep reminding the regions to keep a tight watch on red tide incidents." Fisheries has asked academics and local government units to monitor areas where red tide is known to occur, and the seas that it usually does not infect.
