Major players and stakeholders in the tuna industry called anew on the government to institute reforms in the recently-concluded 14th National Tuna Congress and Trade Exhibit held in Gen. Santos City. Organized by the Socsksargen Federation of Fishing and Allied Industries Inc., the Congress passed resolutions to make the sector a key driver of the economy. Tuna Congress chairman Joaquin Lu lauded the growing clamor to create the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources to make the fishery sector competitive globally.
