Sea patrol members, fishery officers and the police in San Teodoro town in Oriental Mindoro rescued a dolphin stranded in the town poblacion at around 2 p.m. Thursday and was able to release it back to deep waters two hours later, a fishery officer said. Weak and with wounds on its dorsal fin, the dolphin, which measures 2.5 meters and is known as a Risso’s Dolphin, was found near the shore in the poblacion, said Rhodora Ramiento, agricultural technologist of the Provincial Agriculture Office–Fisheries and Coastal Resource Management Division (Pago-FCRMD). Ramiento said the dolphin was found by the municipal police, sea patrol member Terence Panado, and Jacinto Abdon, officer in charge of the municipal Fishery Management Office.
