    Excerpt
The partnership between the government and the private sector and the pursuit of innovations in climate adaptations is meant to protect Coral Triangle and ensure its diversity and sustainability for some 360 million people. Agriculture Secretary Arthur Yap says the Coral Triangle is home to a majority of the world's known coral reefs and species as well as to more than 350 million inhabitants combined in the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, and Timor Leste that form its border. Yap says the governments and private organizations in these countries have to continue working together in protecting this haven of marine diversity because "the collapse of the triangle will not only mean the end to food security but also to the very livelihood of hundreds of millions of people."
