The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) in Camarines Sur advised fishermen and fish cage owners in the three lakes in the province to harvest fish early to preempt the full onslaught of El Niño. Santiago Noblefranca, BFAR provincial head, said while no fish kill was reported in the province yet, “we anticipate the prolonged dry spell [to] eventually lead to it.” He said BFAR has been keeping watch on water levels in three lakes in the province, especially Lake Bato, where water level dropped by 2.2meters. Water level in Lake Baao, another fishing ground, is also being watched.
