    The Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (PCAARRD) has formulated a program aimed at conserving and increasing the production of the native catfish. The fish locally known as "hito" and scientifically called as Clarias macrocephalus is a freshwater species native to the Philippines. It is a favorite food among the Filipinos because of its tender and delicious meat.
