    Excerpt
Seaweed farmers in the island town of Caluya have been trained on productivity and improved quality of dried seaweeds. Caluya is among the areas in the country considered as major producer of seaweeds locally known as "tambalang" due to its distinct location and vast shoreliens conducive to seaweeds farming. Tambalang is a promising industry in Antique because of its great employment-generation potential and its ability to stir economic activities in the different islands of the province, Roger S. Petinglay, the current Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) regional focal person on seaweeds, said.
