The depletion of marine resources in the Visayan Sea has prompted the imposition of a close season to fishing to allow fish and other marine life to spawn. Ro-Ann Bacal, National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) regional director, said the decline in the fish population and other marine resources of Visayan Sea has alarmed scientists. Bacal cited the latest Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) of Western Visayas.
