    Excerpt
The country’s fish production increased by 1.8 percent to 990,140 metric tons (MT) in the third quarter (Q3) of 2019, with improvements noted in aquaculture farming, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) said. In its latest “Fisheries Situation Report,” the PSA said production in aquaculture went up 5.8 percent, while the commercial and municipal fisheries subsector declined by 0.5 percent and 3.2 percent, respectively. Aquaculture fisheries, which contributed the largest share of 49.9 percent to the total output, reached 494,100 MT, a 5.8-percent increase from last year’s 466,960 MT.
