The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources has launched four strategies to promote aquaculture in the country and ensure fish sufficiency for the burgeoning population through improved inland fish production. BFAR Director Malcolm Sarmiento Jr. said aquaculture's importance to the country has grown substantially in recent years owing to the inability of our marine resources - which have been depleted so fast - to cope with the rise in population growth. The BFAR also has an agreement with the Southeast Asain Fisheries Development Center (SEAFDEC) on the operation of five techno-demo farms.en
