Two international seahorse experts visited the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center Aquaculture Department (SEAFDEC AQD) headquarters recently and gave seminar titled "Coordinating seahorse conservation efforts in zoos and aquaria." Dr. Heather Hall, curator of the London Zoo and co-founder of Project Seahorse and Dr. Colin Bull, aquarium research coordinator of Project Seahorse and Shedd Aquarium partnership, of the John Shedd Aquarium, Chicago, Illinois, gave an overview of what Project Seahorse is all about. Project Seahorse according to Dr. Hall is an integrated program of conservation and management initiatives, working to ensure long-term persistence of wild seahorses, their relatives and their habitats, while respecting human needs and aspirations.
