LGUs to have control over natural resources - Roque
Excerpt
Under the proposed Philippine federal government, local government units (LGUs) do not need to consult the central government on what to do with their natural resources, according to Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque Jr. This was also acknowledged by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region 6. In fact, the agency has been working with LGUs in the preparation of their respective Forest Land Use Plan (FLUP) within the context of sustainable forest management, said Regional Director Jim Sampulna.
