Marina, PCG officials sacked

Several officials of the Maritime Industry Authority (Marina) and Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) were relieved of their posts while investigation is underway for the deadly sea mishap in Iloilo-Guimaras Strait, according to Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade. During his visit to the wake of some of the fatalities in Iloilo province, Tugade announced the immediate suspension of PCG and Marina officials in Western Visayas. Suspended were Marina officials Iloilo Regional Director Rizal Victoria, Franchising Section officer Jose Venancio Vera Jr., Maritime Safety Service Division Chief Bernardo Pollo and Juliet Nacion.
