    Excerpt
The government is optimistic to sustain positive growth in the country’s fish production in the second quarter of 2019, as it shifts focus on aquaculture farming due to the expected weather disturbances during the rainy season. In an interview with The Manila Times on Wednesday, the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) National Director Eduardo Gongona said the national fish output is likely to increase by more than percent, maintaining its growth from the last two quarters. “We would like to maintain the positive growth, actually not only for the second quarter of the year but for the remaining quarters of 2019 and for the following years. In fact, we have already started interchaging from capture fisheries to aquaculture as we expect multiple typhoons or heavy rains in the next months,” Gongona said.
